Sushant Singh Rajput (21 January 1986 – 14 June 2020) was an Indian actor, dancer, businessman and philanthropist. Sushant began her career with television series. Her debut was the romantic drama Star Plus Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil (2008), followed by an award-winning performance on the famous Zee TV soap opera Pavitra Rishta.
Sushant made his film debut in the drama friend Kai Po Che! He then starred in the romantic comedy Shuddh Desi Romance and as lead detective in the action thriller Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! His most popular releases came with a supporting role in the satire PK, followed by the title role in the sports biographical film M.S. Dhoni: the untold story. For his performance he received his first nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor. Sushant continued to star in commercially successful films Kedarnath and Chhichhore.
Sushant was born in Patna to Krishna Kumar Singh and Usha Singh. Their ancestral home is located in the district of Purnia in Bihar. One of his sisters, Mitu Singh, is a state-level cricket player. The death of her mother in 2002 left Sushant devastated and in the same year that the family moved from Patna to Delhi.
Sushant attended Patna’s St. Karen’s High School and Kulachi Hansraj Model School in New Delhi. According to Sushant, he ranked seventh in the DCE entrance exam in 2003 and obtained admission to the engineering degree (mechanical engineering) at the Delhi College of Engineering. He was also the winner of the National Physics Olympics. In all, he has passed up to 11 engineering entrance exams, including the Indian School of Mines. After starting to participate in theater and dance, he rarely had time to study, causing several delays which eventually led him to leave DCE. He completed only three years of the four-year course before leaving to pursue an acting career.
In 2008, the Balaji Telefilms casting team saw Sushant’s acting personality and talent while on stage for one of Ekjute’s shows. They invited him to audition for them and Sushant got the role of Preet Juneja in Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil. His character was killed early enough on the show, but he was such a popular character among viewers that they brought him back to the series finale in the form of a spirit, observing how his family celebrates after going through difficult times. In June 2009, Sushant began acting on Pavitra Rishta as Manav Deshmukh, a serious and mature character who works as a mechanic to support his family.

Initially, when producer Ekta Kapoor cast him as the protagonist of Pavitra Rishta while playing the parallel role in Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, Zee TV did not accept him. However, Kapoor convinced them to accept it.
In May 2010, Sushant joined Zara’s dance reality show Nachke Dikha 2. He had already demonstrated his acting talent by winning awards for his performance in Pavitra Rishta, and wanted to establish that he had good dance skills and that he could go ahead. trained. In 2015, Sushant’s only release was Dibakar Banerjee’s mysterious thriller Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! (2015), in which he plays the detective Byomkesh Bakshi, created by the Bengali writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. The film was jointly produced by film producer Yib Raj Films and Banerjee Dibakar Banerjee Productions. Set in Calcutta in the 1940s, the film was released on April 3, 2015. Sushant auditioned for Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che! and was selected to play one of the three protagonists, along with Rajkumar Rao and Amit Sadh. Based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life, the film proved to be a critical and commercial success.

In 2019 he appeared on Sonchiriya by Abhishek Chaubey alongside Bhumi Pednekar, appeared on Chhichhore by Nitesh Tiwari alongside Shraddha Kapoor, released on September 6, 2019. He subsequently starred in Drive alongside Jacqueline Fernandez, which was posted on Netflix. In 2020, he starred in the Mukesh Chhabra remake of The Fault in Our Stars titled Dil Bechara. The film was scheduled to be released in May of that year, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sushant had an affair with his co-star Ankita Lokhande for six years. They separated in 2016. On June 14, 2020, Sushant, 34, was found dead hanging from the ceiling fan at his home in Bandra, Mumbai. He reportedly suffered from depression for about six months. However, no suicide notes were found in June 2020. According to Vinay Chaubey, an IPS agent for the Mumbai police, some prescriptions and medical reports were found in Sushant’s room and investigations are ongoing.
